International Culture Festival 2015

Horizon International Schools held its annual International Culture Festival 2015 at Myanmar Convention Center in Yangon on 6 – 7 February. The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Myanmar and with the support of foreign embassies in Myanmar. Myanmar and other 47 countries had their booths decorated with the pictures of their landmarks and popular destinations, artifacts of historic and cultural value, traditional foods and dishes. The visitors could also witness cultural dance and music performances at the main stage.

The event started with the ribbon-cutting ceremony where were present H.E. U Win Mra & Madam (Chairman of Human Rights Commission and ex-Ambassador of Myanmar to the UN), H.E. U Shwe Maung (Member of Parliament), H.E. Mr. Ehsan Ullah Batth & Madam (Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan), H.E. Mr. Daniel Zonshine (Ambassador of the State of Israel), H.E. Mr. Mohd Haniff Bin Abd. Rahman & Madam (Ambassador of Malaysia), Madam Ruan Wei (Wife of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China), Madam Chu Quynh Chi (Wife of the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), Mr. Georgy Kuzminov (1st Secretary at the Embassy of the Russian Federation), Mr. Ross Bray (Senior Trade Commissioner and Counsellor at Australian Embassy), Ms. Lasapan Toomsawasdi (1stSecretary at Royal Thai Embassy), Ms. Silanin Sengsilavong (3rd Secretary at the Embassy of the Lao PDR) and Mr. Arif Gomleksiz (Chairman of Mediterranean International Education Services Co., Ltd.). The event was later visited by H.E. Khine Maung Yi (Member of Parliament) and H.E. Mr. Alcides G.R. Prates (Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil).

All the booth supervisors and attendants, most of whom were dressed in the traditional dresses of their respective countries, did their best to introduce their country to the visitors giving as much information as possible offering them souvenirs for remembrance. The event attracted a big number of visitors who were very enthusiastic and eager to explore each booth.
